HP in Malaysia

HP is a company unlike any other. We reach across consumer, small and medium-size business (SMB), enterprise and public sector segments by our presence and leadership in key regions around the world.

Through HP's unique technology portfolio spanning IT infrastructure, personal computing and access devices, global services, and imaging and printing; we enable great things to happen every day by allowing people to express themselves. We provide the necessary technology tools that break through the artificial obstacles and barriers to achievement.

Today, millions of people around the world use HP technology daily. We are proud to be the largest and only IT company that serves the consumer, SMB and enterprise markets equally. We lead because our strategy is to offer products, services and solutions that are high tech, low cost and deliver the best customer experience. No other company has the portfolio, people and expertise to deliver on all three.

In Malaysia, HP began operations 26 years ago on 20th Oct 1978. Since inception we have always maintained a strong presence and commitment to the country. In addition to the present Kuala Lumpur HQ office, HP also has a sales office in Pulau Pinang; seven distribution centers; and twelve service centers nationwide. From a humble staff of 12 in the beginning, HP Malaysia now employs over 1,200 individuals.

As proud as HP is of our capabilities, we are equally proud of those things that define our character: the dedication of our people, our standards and values, and the reach and depth of our commitment to global citizenship.

As such, HP Malaysia is actively involved in community activities through our 'HP for the Community' initiative. HP's philanthropy focus is toward e-inclusion which aims to help bridge the digital divide for the underprivileged in our society. With an initial commitment of RM250, 000 in 2003/2004, HP actually exceeded the allocated commitment to RM365, 000 on various philanthropy projects, excluding staff volunteer time. During that period, up to 1,300 underprivileged children from 14 charitable children homes directly benefited from HP's IT accessibility and education benefits by making a difference in their lives.

The challenge for HP in 2005 is to continue to shape our impact as a constructive force, using our heritage and our solutions for doing so. We are employing new models of engagement and new business and technology solutions to enable more people around the globe to be empowered by information technology.
