1) Why does HP offer this service?

HP wants to offer complete solutions that help HP customers upgrade to latest HP technology. At the same time HP wants customers to feel assured that they can easily recycle their old IT products when they have reached their end of life. HP Asset Recovery Services makes the transition to new HP equipment easier, cheaper and more efficient.

2) Which programs are included in the HP Asset Recovery Services?

There are five programs offered as part of the HP Asset Recovery Service:

3) What are the benefits of HP Asset Recovery Services?

4) Who is eligible to participate?

Any HP Corporate and Enterprise customer in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

5) What products are eligible for return?

Any working or non-working IT products and associated accessories of any make. The products can be old, obsolete or non-working.

Not accepted for recycling are:
- Household devices such as TV sets, VCRs, microwave ovens, washing machine etc.
- Broken monitors/CRTs or LCDs due to safety regulations of the carriers
- Contaminated products.
- Products for medicinal, measures or analytical works
- Packaging material like cartons, manuals and paper scraps on its own
- Other trash, waste or chemicals

6) Can the HP Asset Recovery Services be used in conjunction with other incentives or special pricing?

7) Do I have to pay to use HP Asset Recovery Services?

HP will endeavour to recover the costs associated with pick up and disposal in the resale of returned equipment. If this cost cannot be recovered, a charge may be applied.

For accounting purposes, you may opt to be invoiced for all costs incurred and receive the full FMV value of your sold equipment.

Some collections and data destruction requirements may incur costs which may have to be passed back to you. HP will provide a quote for these costs.

8) What do I do to apply for the HP Asset Recovery Services?

HP has created a Program Office and offers one single point of contact covering the whole service portfolio across all product categories.

9) How will HP organise the collection of my products?

HP will collect your redundant equipment country wide. We will call a site to establish contact, book a convenient time during business hours and arrange transport. If more than one collection is required, HP and the customer will determine a collection schedule.

The customer should notify HP at least 7 days prior to a collection, consolidate the products for return into one location in each major city metropolitan area unless otherwise agreed. The products should be de-installed, available at a ground level loading area and appropriately packed for transport.

10) What happens to confidential data still on the hard disk?

HP offers a range of data destruction services using industry standard software or complete destruction on all assets with hard disk drives. To certify that all hard disks have undergone our data destruction process a data destruction certificate can be provided on request.

11) What happens with the products dedicated for resale?

Each item will go through a thorough diagnostic process which will include a full test of all functions and asset tracking of all items.

Equipment in working conditions and suitable for remarketing will be cleaned, data and operating system will be erased and customer identity labels will be removed from all equipment.

HP will box and store the products until re-sale.

12) What is the HP Planet Partners Recycling Program?

The HP Planet Partners Recycling Program provides customers easy means to recycle their used computing equipment in an environmentally responsible manner.

13) What products are covered under the HP Planet Partners Recycling Program?

The HP Planet Partners Recycling Program accepts all brands of computing, printing and multi-function hardware. Printing supplies (toner and ink cartridges) are not covered under the Asset Recovery Service. For information on HP original printing supplies please see www.hp.com/recycle.

14) What products are not accepted under the HP Planet Partners Recycling Program?

Provided that the customers request meets all the terms and conditions of the recycling service, all IT related hardware will be accepted.

Product that will not be accepted:
- Other that IT equipment wastes or chemicals
- Broken monitors, CRTs or LCDs
- Products exposed to radiation, biohazard or chemicals

Printing supplies (toner and ink cartridges) are not covered under the Asset Recovery Service. For information on HP original printing supplies please see www.hp.com/recycle.

15) What happens with products dedicated for recycling?

Equipment are sorted, dismantled and the materials are separated into various material streams. These groups of materials are dispatched to specialised vendors for recycling, or disposal under a controlled and qualified processes including mechanical, thermal and chemical treatment. Any remaining materials are utilized to generate energy or disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.

17) Can I find out if my current products have value in the secondary market? Can I recover any value?

Yes, it is HP's intention to return fair market value to the customer. The customer may also choose to donate the payment to a nominated charity, in which case HP will arrange for the donation. Indicative quotations are provided by the HP Program Office via email. Please contact the Asset Recovery Program Office. Note, HP must first receive and inspect the products to confirm a value.
