Part of our job as a leading technology company is to make an ongoing contribution to society. For us, that includes a firm commitment to the environment.
For decades HP has been an environmental leader, driving company stewardship through its HP Eco Solutions program, which spans product design, reuse and recycling as well as energy and resource efficiency. HP influences industry action by setting high environmental standards in its operations and supply chain, by providing practical solutions to make it easier for customers to reduce their climate impact and through its research on sustainability solutions that support a low-carbon economy.

The HP Planet Partners Hardware Return and Recycling Program in India
Hewlett-Packard India’s Planet Partners Hardware Recycling Program [PPP] is part of HP’s ongoing commitment to offer recycling programs that are convenient, environmentally sound and consistent with its global commitment to corporate citizenship.
PPP offers a product return and recycling program to enterprise customers in India.
The program offers to take back end-of-life HP and non-HP computing equipment like personal computers, laptops, computer monitors, handhelds, notebooks, servers, printers, scanners and fax machines, as well as associated external components such as cables, mice and keyboards.
HP’s proactive approach to product reuse and recycling helps to divert material from landfill to environmentally sound recycling. Customers can simply follow a four step process to participate in this program.

More information on HP’s return and recycling program is available at www.hp.com/recycle.
| The HP Consumer Take Back Program in India |
The HP India Consumer Product Take-Back Program is an expanded initiative in India that provides consumer and small and medium business (SMB) customers with easy means to dispose their used computing equipment in an environmentally responsible manner.
HP will accept free of charge HP branded end of life printers, scanners, fax machines, personal computers (including both desktop and notebook computers), monitors, handheld devices, cameras and associated external components such as cables, mice and keyboards. After collection, HP will consolidate the products and sort for recycling locally in India.
This effort builds on HP’s milestone of reaching its second, higher recycling goal of two billion pounds by 2010. It contributes to HP’s commitment to providing customers with inventive, high quality products and services that are environmentally sound throughout their life cycles, and conducting our operations in an environmentally responsible manner.

The HP TERI School Future’s program IM-PACTS: (Innovative Methods - Programme on Action oriented Clean Technologies in Schools) In partnership with TERI – The Energy and Resources Institute, India

Sometimes a big change needs small hands!
|
|
HP in partnership with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) launched the Hewlett Packard – TERI Schools’ Future Program – an initiative to implement environment improvement projects at schools. HP awarded a grant of Rupees One crore Seventeen lakhs (USD 250, 000) comprising cash and technology to TERI towards the program.
Neelam Dhawan, Managing Director, HP India, together with Dr. R.K. Pachauri, Director General, TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) jointly announced the program in the presence of participating schools, and students in January 2009. The program will run at participating schools in three cities – Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi till August 2010.

The ‘Hewlett Packard – TERI Schools’ Future Program’ will help Primary and Secondary schools to take practical action to save energy and water while reducing their utility bills. The program will support the schools directly with ideation, as well as in implementing their environmental improvement projects. The program will also deliver HP technology to the schools, which will enable them to network with other schools and share best practices. The 18 month program will also engage and drive awareness among school students around environment through debates, contests, field trips and the like. |
There are two important components to the program:
|

|
| Component 1: The program mentors the schools on different aspects of eco improvements and invites proposals from schools offering grants of up to US$ 1100 per school towards initiation of environment projects at these schools. The environment improvement projects can include improvements such as solar and other renewable power systems, rainwater harvesting structures and other energy efficiency measures at their campus. |
|
The program thus mentors, educates and thereby helps and encourages these schools to take practical actions to save energy and water while cutting their utility bills. The program will support the schools directly with ideation as well as the implementation of their environmental initiatives and also provide HP technology to the schools which will enable them to network with other schools and share best practices. TERI, an organization well established in the field of environment education with programs involving schools, communities and other beneficiaries at the grassroots level in environment conservation and awareness is well equipped to provide the guidance to the schools.
|
| Component 2: The second component of the program is student engagement. The program emphasizes strong student engagement across milestone through the 18 months period to raise awareness and encourage action on the different aspects of the environment. |
